Vanessa Murray

MSpeechPath, BA (Hons – Asian Studies/Linguistics)

Vanessa is a fully certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia, following completion of her Master of Speech Pathology and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Asian Studies and Linguistics at La Trobe University.

Vanessa enjoys collaborating with a diverse range of pre-teens, adolescents and adults in a safe & supportive space.

She provides gender affirming, neuro-affirming and trauma-informed services that respect each individual’s gender, communication style and lived experience.

Vanessa is a certified practicing speech pathologist and member of Speech Pathology Australia. She is also a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH), the Australian Association of Trans Health (Aus Path) and the Australian Voice Association.

She regularly engages in professional development to stay on top of the evidence base and to bounce ideas off peers, colleagues and community members, and is a member of Gender Identity in Voice (GIIV), a fabulous working group of like-minded speechies.

Vanessa provides functional & holistic speech therapy for each of her clients, including, but not limited to:

·        AAC including low-tech and high-tech options

·        functional literacy skills, to increase capacity to use and understand everyday written information such as menus, timetables, forms and sign s

·        general literacy skills including phonological awareness, spelling & decoding, reading & writing

·        gender affirming voice and communication training

·        meal time safety and swallowing strategies

·        receptive and expressive language development

·        social communication, social interaction and community engagement with neuro-divergent community

·        treatment of vocal hyperfunction/misuse in the workplace

 

Vanessa is available for in-person consultations on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and Telehealth on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
