 Northside Clinic Allied is now open! Clients and patients for Osteopathy, Psychology and Dietitian services can still call the main clinic phone number, 03 9485 7700 for appointments.  The new premises are located across the road at Ground Floor, 391 St Georges Road.  For entry to the building, press the Northside Clinic button at the front door and our reception staff will let you in.  Head down the hallway and you will find us at the bottom of the stairs.  Information about our practitioners are below.

Osteopathy

Dr Stephen Morgan has been practicing as an osteopath since 2001, seven of those years at the Carlton Clinic before relocating to the Northside Clinic. He is available for consultations five days per week at Northside, including Saturday mornings. He also works sessionally in Kew.

Stephen specialises in back pain, neck pain and postural complaints, particularly those arising from computer use and sports injuries.

Stephen welcomes patients from all backgrounds, in particular catering to members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Other interests include traveling and visual art. Stephen is also a director of the Ross Watson Gallery.

Initial consultation fee: $85

Return consultation fee: $75

As per Northside Clinic policy, we do not invoice third parties for osteopathy services.  All patients, including those on Workcover and TAC are expected to pay for services on the day.

 Massage

Ben Stringer has been practicing massage since 1998 and is a member of AAMT.  He has a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Acting) from NIDA, Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and is currently completing a Masters in Osteopathy at Victoria University.

With 10 years of theatre experience Ben has a deep understanding of the performer's psyche and the toll performance takes on the body.

Ben welcomes patients from all backgrounds and sexualities.

Other interests include Tai Chi and fitness.  Ben teaches Certificate III and IV in Fitness for Wyn Training and RMIT University and has been a martial artist  for 15 years.

Ben Stringer will continue to see patients at 370 St Georges Road on Saturday mornings.

Fees

Massage appointments are 45 mins long and cost $75.

As per Northside Clinic policy third parties and insurers will not be directly invoiced for massage services.  All accounts are payable at the time of the consultation.  Some private health insurance policies may offer rebates for massage services. Please check with your insurer.

 

Psychology

Robyn Dwyer

Robyn graduated form the University of Melbourne Master of Psychology (Clinical) in 2004 having earlier completed a Bachelor in Behavioural Science (Hons) at LaTrobe University as a mature aged student. After graduating Robyn worked with both Austin and Melbourne Health in outpatient, primary care, psychiatric outreach (inner Melbourne homeless population) and inpatient settings before commencing private practice late 2006. She has a passion for learning and professional development in an attempt to stay abreast of current research and provide comprehensive individually tailored therapy. Robyn has completed extensive training in CBT, ACT, DBT, Buddhist psychology, Schema and trauma therapies as well as practitioner MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for recurrent depression) training with Prof Graham Meadows of Monash University/Southern Health 2008. She has a gentle person centered approach integrating cognitive behavioural strategies with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness techniques. Future learning tasks will target mental health, emotional well being and resiliency related to sexual health and gender issues as well as maintaining and updating current practice. Robyn also has an interest in dissociative disorders and special interest in disadvantaged groups. Medicare Registered Clinical Psychologist. Bulk Billing available for financially disadvantaged.

Ben Callegari is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist. He completed his undergraduate and post-graduate training at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and has undertaken specialist training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Parent Management Training (PMT).

Ben received valuable training at the Westmead Hospital’s Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit and the Adolescent Medicine Unit at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney. Ben has experience in public and private settings, working with clients presenting with complex psychological conditions. In addition to his practice, Ben currently also works in a specialist outpatient clinic providing Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to clients with complex co-occurring conditions such as Borderline Personality Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Use Disorders.

Ben has well established skills working with children, adolescents and adults using a range of therapeutic approaches. He actively engages in regular peer consultation and participates in ongoing professional development to keep abreast of the latest therapeutic techniques.

Ben is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is an endorsed provider of Clinical Psychology services with Medicare. He is also a founding member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and a member of the International Society of the Study of Personality Disorders.

Fiona Lacy

BA Hons, Master of Arts (Couns Psych), Grad Dip Family Therapy, MAPS

Fiona is a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over twenty years experience in the field. Fiona offers short-term goal-oriented counselling, as well as longer-term insight-oriented psychotherapy. She is interested in assisting each person to make connections between their psychological and physical symptoms, and underlying concerns in order to find resolution and relief from these symptoms.

Fiona has extended experience in working with lesbian and bisexual women. She has an interest in supporting lesbians who are embarking on starting their own families, or who are having relationship difficulties. Fiona has experience in working with women who are struggling with fertility issues, pregnancy loss (including miscarriage, stillbirth, perinatal loss, and pregnancy termination), and women who are suffering from postnatal depression. She also works with male and female patients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, health issues, grief and loss, body image and eating issues, trauma, and issues arising from a difficult childhood. Fiona has a special interest in working with patients who are interested in engaging in psychodynamic psychotherapy, where issues are looked at in a deeper way and the individual can become more aware of, and integrate, less conscious aspects of the self in order to lead to a more fulfilled and meaningful life.

Su Ling Lim, APD/ AN

Su-Ling has a passion for food and nutrition and believes in promoting lifestyle changes to assist clients to achieve outcomes that are attainable, and most importantly, sustainable. Su Ling believes that by guiding and shaping positive changes in thoughts, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors to promote lifestyle changes is the foundation to achieving outcomes that are sustainable.

Su Ling has gained a broad range of work experience in acute, sub-acute and rehabilitation settings. As well as providing dietetic support of a range of clinical conditions Su Lings special interests include working with people with disordered eating and eating disorders, gastrointestinal dysfunction, weight management, diseases of the liver, drug and alcohol and nutrition for HIV.

Su Ling aims to empower clients with the skills required to make informed decisions about areas affecting their health and nutrition. Su Ling is able to provide practical nutrition guidance and advice in a holistic manner and work with clients to facilitate a healthy lifestyle to improve vitality and confidence.

 

Nicole Kopel, APD / AN
Available Saturdays

Nicole is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Nutritionist. She graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Science), and has completed further study in Adolescent Health and Welfare. She has an interest in assisting people with non dieting approaches to weight management, disordered eating, improving body image and helping people with mental health disorders improve their health and wellbeing.

Nicole has worked as a Community Dietitian for 3 years where she assisted clients with health issues, including Type 2 Diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, weight gain, weight loss and irritable bowel syndrome; manage their conditions through healthy eating. Nicole has also facilitated a range of groups including cooking groups, diabetes support, cardiac rehabilitation, toddler and children’s diet and lifestyle groups. Nicole particularly enjoyed presenting a group for adolescent girls covering body image, healthy eating, anti fad dieting, sexual and reproductive health and bullying and friendships. She has also presented talks about general healthy eating, nutrition and women’s health, body image, fussy eating and healthy eating for children. Nicole currently works part time asa Health Promotion Officer, aiming to improve the sexual and reproductive health of the local communities she works with.

Nicole believes many aspects effect people’s health and the way they eat. These can include personal factors such as beliefs, attitudes and thoughts, and social and environmental factors such as work conditions, income, where people live, upbringing, housing and genetics. This can make changing eating behaviours challenging - therefore,Nicole works slowly with clients to identify where they are currently at, what their goals are and discuss with them ways to manage their diet and lifestyle which are realistic and achievable and Practical to each individual.

Nicole has enjoyed breastfeeding her 1 year old, watching him begin solids, and enjoys teaching him about food and imparting her love of food and eating on him!
